Happy.
Well, it’s now Eid ul Fitri / Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Malaysia. I just helped my mom and sister with some (very minor) Raya preparations - filling the ketupats with rice, filling the cookie jars with raya cookies..stuff like that.
As the title implies, I’m feeling very upbeat at the moment, but I’m not sure why. It’s not the first time I’m celebrating Raya, nor will it be the last (God Willing).
Ok, there was supposed to be a point to this post, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was supposed to be. But yeah, I’m happy now. Sharing that is better than nothing, right? :)

”..With no pre-existing bacteria to demand competition, bugs ingested during the birth process colonise the infant gut within days. Over the first few days of life, additional types bacteria join the gut flora. Staphylococcus aureus, for example, is transferred from the mother’s nipple during suckling, and through kisses and cuddles from doting relatives.”

I’ve just discovered The Naked Scientists, a website run by “..a media-savvy group of physicians and researchers from Cambridge University who use radio, live lectures, and the Internet to strip science down to its bare essentials, and promote it to the general public.” The website’s got loads of interesting stuff related to science. The lines quoted above tickled my fancy. I personally find it ironic that people insist on keeping the baby “germ-free”, when they’re very likely doing the opposite. (Of course I know that a newborn shouldn’t be exposed to more harmful germs. :P)
